Since their inception, Catholic Grammar
schools have been the garden for their Parish. The children who graduate from
Parish sponsored schools, were and are the present/future parishioners of our
churches. They are and will be the laity and clergy who comprise the school and
parish committees. They will sit on parish councils and school boards. In
essence, they are the future of our Roman Catholic Church as well as future
citizens of an ever changing society. It is for this reason that our parish
sponsored schools must be equipped to meet the changing demographics of our
geographical area. It is pertinent for the future of the Roman Catholic Church
that our schools be readied to meet the changes in technology and education,
while still holding on to our fundamental Catholic Identity as we launch
ourselves into the twenty-first century. Given the current situation, the
time for grammar school regionalization has arrived in the Northern Valley. The seven pastors of Northern Valley Deanery
2N, St. Joseph, Demarest;
Church of St. Mary, Closter;
Sacred Heart, Haworth;
Our Lady of Victories,
Harrington Park; Immaculate Conception,
Norwood;
St. Anthony, Northvale and
St.
Pius X, Old Tappan; came together in October of 2007 to create and support a
newly formed regionalized grammar school, in Northeastern Bergen County. Their
vision, insight and desire to continue to provide a Catholic school education
for the children of their parishes, has resulted in a brand new academy,
co-sponsored by these seven parishes. Holy Family Catholic Academy will be located
at the site of Immaculate Conception Parish in Norwood, New Jersey. It will
follow the academy model of education set forth by the office of the
Superintendent of Schools of the Archdiocese of Newark. The pastors of the
northern valley invite you to be part of our family, at Holy Family Catholic
Academy, which will open in September of 2008. Join with us we continue to
provide for, and form our young people in the gospel values of Jesus Christ and
the Catholic Faith. There will be an atmosphere that encourages excellence in
academics, where the hallmarks of a caring and nurturing principal and faculty
join with loving and motivated families to ensure that all students not merely
succeed, but thrive. |
